On the set meme

Mountain View

CUT!!

At last. You can finally take a break and get some coffee! Or maybe not. Maybe you just flubbed your line for the umpteenth time. Or maybe it's no fault of your own, and someone in the design department is going to cop a hiding for placing that piece of two-by-four where you could trip over it. Whatever the case, you can break character for a moment, it's time to step off the set.

That's right, that videogame level, awesome movie shot, or even favorite scene from a book is naught but a stage, and everyone's an actor. Just because you're playing yourself doesn't mean you don't ham it up a little, and here's a chance to unwind.

Note to live-action muses/PBs: this is NOT about playing your actor! This isn't a meme about Chris Hemsworth as an actor - it's about MCU Thor showing up on set the wrong sort of hammered. And not everybody has to be an actor. Somebody's got to build those sets, costume those divas, and direct the whole affair.

  • Comment with your character, including name, canon, and any other preferences

  • Your character is now an actor in, or otherwise involved in the production of, their series.

  • Tag each other! This is an AU-friendly zone, so characters from different series or mediums might be sharing a scene.Thread

  • Enjoy and be excellent to one another!

1. Tea break: Finally time for a breather! Here's hoping the canteen still has some fries left this time.
2. That's your cue: ...Or it was supposed to be! What was your line again?
3. New Script: Meet your new co-star, do a cold read, learn a new you.
4. Creative differences: The dress is hideous! I'm supposed to be shot from my good side! And what do you mean I have to yell at my sister?
5. I'll be in my trailer: One wrong take too many, and you've had enough. You're out of here, or you're left in the lurch when you co-star makes tracks.
6. Under the influence: Partied a little hard last night? Took a bit too much of a pick-me-up on the way in? The best or worst, this will be the most memorable performance in a while!
7. Method acting: But you're too happy to cry today! Too friendly to fight! Get a co-star or toady to bitch at you, that'll help set your mood!
8. Damaged the set: Crap, you got a little too excited and put your arm through the hills. That'll be coming out of your pay!
9. Casting Call: You have to get the part before you get on the soundstage. Make your audition count!
10. Your time to shine: You might be the understudy, but when the lead breaks their foot, this could be your big break!
11. Backstage meeting: Hey, somebody's gotta make those wheels turn. Discuss lighting, props, and the thankless nature of making someone else look good.
12. Double-booked: You can too work a schedule this busy! ...Right up until you show up in the wrong costume!
13. Wrong Studio: Oh dear, wrong door! Are the cameras rolling? Improv like you're meant to be here. A magical girl could totally be investigating this crime scene!
14. We're doing it live!: Once chance to make it count! On, the nerves... Son't mess up now!
15. Wardrobe malfunction: Whether it's anatomy on display, your underwear on record, or a pratfall for the ages, you know the paparazzi would kill for that tape!
16: Romance on the set: Obligatory shipping option. It might help sell your romance scene! Or make things awkward when you have to slap the villain.
